SERVICES

Site 223

AT&T, T-Mobile were both good - able to stream and work without issue.

72psi water pressure - awesome showers. 50/30 amp connection. Site was level - lots of grassy areas for the dogs.

Lots were level but this one had a spot that still held some mud from the last rain. I suspect it would get wet in a downpour.

Bourbon Everywhere!

Being very near Lexington KY it is also very near the "Bourbon Trail" - what a blast. We'll be posting a separate article on that - for now, on to the park.

Close to everything, really, Lexington is only 20 minutes away. As you would expect, everything is there.

The park is clean, quiet, and well maintained. There is a lot of grassy areas for the dogs. Several community fire pits with swings, tables, and chairs. Several play areas for the kids that are away from the main "old fart" areas. There is also a large pool but was closed while we were there. If I had to say one thing bad about it - there is no shade. This looks like a newer park and the trees are still small.

Our stay there was short as we were traveling back home. However, it would be good for a week or two if you were doing the Bourbon Trail or visiting "The Ark" or just wanted someplace nice to relax.

Be aware, this is Kentucky and roads are narrow, hilly, and curvy. There are no shoulders on most of the roads around the area so even though the speed limit is posted as 40 mph - you'd be hard pressed to do it safely.

We only went out to eat once this stay. We went to Halligan's Bar in Lexington - it was close to James E. Peppers distillery, same parking lot.

We snagged a couple burgers and they were awesome. I believe the burger is ground to order. 1/2 pound slab with all the rabbit food and fries $12.

The other guests were friendly and helpful. We had be eyeballing the new Blackstone eSeries Griddle for a few weeks. On our morning walk there was a lady cooking one - yah! We got to talking about it and she loved it. The husband told us they were on $97 at Walmart, we went right away. When we got there they were $147, still $100 cheaper that Amazon. We saw the couple the next day and they asked about it - we told him about the price and he says "No Way!", here is my receipt, they are on sale for $97. We went back the next day and sure enough they credited us back the difference - no questions asked. You can read the review in the Equipment section.

    Our Takeaway

We would definitely stay here again but not in the early part of the trip, still a bit cold. I'm sure there are many other things to do aside from the Bourbon Trail - but that was fun too.
