Location, location, location

We made the trip to Brunswick Georgia to finish out March and scope out the weather for the trek to Michigan near the end of April. Our usual routine, if possible, is to drive the Jeep to the next stay and check it out. That was not possible this time - it was five hours away.

I am disappointed that it is becoming more popular with RV parks to not let you pick the site. They assign one when you check in so it's a crap shoot every time.

We got lucky here. Some of their sites are very small and others are ridiculous. There are a number of decent size sites but none of them are large. It is pretty clean and the other guest were friendly and polite.

I can't say for certain but it looks like cable TV is provided on all the sites, at least it was on ours. So in the evening I got to binge-watch Diners, Drive In's, and Dives (my favorite). So when we ran out of places to go...

One upside to this resort is the restaurant & bar that is attached to it.  Fish Tales had some crazy good seafood and burgers. Their prices are very reasonable and staff was friendly. And they have live music in the pavilion on Fridays. We ate there a few times.

The other upside is its location. It is just minutes away from both Jekyll and St. Simmons Islands which offer some nice restaurants and small shops with the typical tourist swag. It's also pretty close to Historic Brunswick - we did a drive through.

We spent several hours walking the beach with the dogs hunting sand dollars and shells; which reminds me of picking morel mushrooms - once you see one, you can't not see them. I wonder how many we walked by before Denise found the first one.

Denise's younger brother lives "near" the resort and made journey down for a visit. We had a good time and did lunch at Fish Tales.

    Our Takeaway

At the time of this writing a week stay $300 which seems to be the norm in this area. So, would we stay here again? For us, this would be a good park to stop at for a night or two while passing through, but yes, we would. I can't say enough good things about Fish Tales - I loved it.
