Totally High-end Parking

This was one of the nicest resorts we've stayed at so far, anywhere. It reminds me of the Sun RV Resort in Petoskey. Everything is laid out nicely, neat, and clean. The sites are stone, compacted, and level. Every site has a charcoal grill and a paved patio. Add to that a laundry, store, pool, clubhouse, workout room (we didn't use that!).

The resort is broken into 2 separate parks - the smaller of the two is the high-end but the other has all the same stuff but also kid/family friendly stuff like a playground, etc.

Our site was on the back row and you could still see the Gulf. I think a front row would be awesome but... they are "back ins" and our best view is out the front, bummer.

The nearby town of Eastport is very small - no McDonalds, Burger King, etc. - tiny. A nice grocery with a surprising amount of items.  Apalachicola is just a little further down the road and has a bit more to offer. It is a tourist town so lots of tourist-type stores and crowds as well. It does have a Piggly Wiggly.

Oyster City Brewing is in Apalachicola and they have some excellent craft beer. There are also piles of oyster shells, big as a house, spattered around town. Apparently, Apalachicola Bay accounts for 90% of Florida's oysters.

It is pet friendly but... the sites have small patches of grass, well maintained, but small. You can't just let your dog drop one because it literally a few feet from the patio (kind of rude). They have a nice dog run but the lack of potty spots means they get used a lot. Luckily there is a road that runs behind the resort that has little traffic and grassy shoulders. We used that a lot and in the process get in a 1 mile walk twice a day.

The Gulf is across the road from the resort and there is no beach - only a fishing pier. US 98 runs between the resort and the water, faster traffic and more of it. We did manage to visit the pier without getting killed. Just down the road, west of the resort, there is a public beach. We were able to drive our Jeep right down on the beach. It was empty so the dogs as well as Denise and I had a lot of fun.

    Our Takeaway

This is part of the Outdoor Adventure package, so we get this place for 1 week a year for "free". It was a nice, relaxing stay between longer travel days. So would we do this one again, absolutely! Probably for not more than a week - not much to the surrounding area. Again, great for relaxing.
