This was one of the nicer resorts we've stayed at so far. Walking distance to the Gulf, all paved sites, laundry, store, pool, and a water park. This will definitely be on the list for next year. They do daily, weekly and monthly rentals for around $400 a month.
It's right down the road from Bay St. Louis which has a number of "beach side" bars and seafood places. The town is small but we were able to get supplies. We only ate out one time while here... really! We went to the casino for the "Crab-a-palooza" buffet. Major amounts of crab, shrimp, and cajun goodies to choose from. It was pretty expensive but I wasn't worried - I can almost eat my weight in crab legs.
The one big downside to this stay was getting into the park. Denise, in all her wisdom, suggested we drive over and take a look, good thing we did. The railroad runs right along the beach for what I assume is many miles. Not sure why but the tracks are built on these humps that you can't get a motorhome or trailer over - in fact, just before we got there someone had gotten the 5th wheel stuck on the tracks and a train hit it. We ended up staying on the highway until we got to the casino road and then back tracked to the park.
This is the place where we bought "my" first King Cake. If you've never had one - they're awesome, but not really a cake. It's more like a huge, cream cheese filled, Danish pastry. A local recommended this one, he said its the best. We don't know about "best" but it was hard not to gobble the whole thing down.
They bake a plastic baby inside and if you get the baby, then you are King or Queen for the day. I got the baby... being King wasn't as exciting as I'd hoped.
We spent a lot of time walking on the beach with the puppies and just hanging out. This was the least exciting time so far but very relaxing. I do wish the pool was open.
This was a very unexpected and welcomed discovery. We enjoyed the stay very much and will do it again.
