A Hidden Gem

This resort is another Ocean Canyon property and so, again, no out of pocket expense. We're only here for a week so we'll need to cram in as much as possible. The resort is very nice, all newly paved roads and sites, site were not too small, and great view of Biloxi Bay. It was still under construction while we were there but it was mainly landscaping being done.

Another interesting thing is the laundry was free. New washers and dryers in two locations in the park, both free. Shoot, we washed everything. When you're on the road like this, laundry is a big deal. We've been in parks that did not have the service available and had to go into town... I know you all have experienced that nightmare at least once. They always seem to put them in the nastiest part of town.

The resort is just minutes away from any kind of store or restaurant you could want. We went to Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. and had a great lunch. Our server had a very heavy accent and was hard to understand. I ordered a half dozen oysters and got a full dozen (bummer). There was so much food, oysters, calamari, shrimp, and fish - all very good. We took enough home to have lunch the next day.

We also visited Tony's Brick Over Pizzeria - the one recommend to us was permanently closed. We asked around and found this one, I'm glad we did. I don't want to sound like a pizza snob, I am, but if we're going out for pizza, we want a really good one and this one was. Naturally, I got my anchovies on the side.

It seems like most of our "sight seeing" is food based which would explain my inability to shrink my size. Our mission this year is to get to know the areas we stay at and look for possibilities for next year. So, we spend a lot of time just driving around the countryside.

Biloxi, Gulf Shores, Pass Christian, Ocean Springs, and Bay St. Louis are all very touristy and all a short drive away on one of three roads, depending on how close you want to be to the ocean (and traffic). We nearly always stayed as close to the beach as possible.

    Our Takeaway

Would we stay here again, you betcha! In fact I can hardly wait for next year to see the finished product.
